Public Service and Accountability

The Programme is comprised of access to services advocacy projects that engage communities to become organized, informed, and confident to skillfully engage government to be responsive in advancing access to basic services. it involves public participation and accountability initiatives where citizens claim their rights by demanding participation in parliamentary processes that shape laws and public policies.

As a result government is enforced to be more accountable for its constitutional duties. Thus, it has a participatory initiative for social accountability project that specifically contributes to building a vibrant and open democracy in Lesotho, where citizens know, demand, and exercise their rights and responsibilities whilst the government representatives demonstrate accountability and transparency.

Human Rights and Access to Justice

The human rights and access to justice programme focuses much on protection and promotion of human rights – respect, advocacy for justiciability and elevation of socioeconomic rights to be part of Bill of rights in the constitution of Lesotho. It is further particular in strengthening human rights institutions and oversight bodies that human rights violations exposed are documented and victims redressed. It strives at advancement of constitutional democracy and social justice through promotion and protection of community welfare and well-being of poor and vulnerable people.

Research, Information, and Communication

The program supports high-quality research and learning processes that serve as a primary information hub for TRC programming. It provides learning opportunities to continually learn from its own and others’ experiences to develop and deepen its practices and strategies through acquisition, maintenance and dissemination of adequate informative material that communicates issues public service and accountability as well as human rights and access to justice. It further plays a vital role in promoting TRC mandate to reach out to public while creating an overarching image that represents the Centre’s standpoint in policy development.
