The Ombudsman Matters

Therefore, the Ombudsman summoned the affected people as well as LHDA in the public hearings where the affected people (individually and collectively)levelled their complaints, with evidence, against the LHDA with regard to their compensation and resettlement issues. The LHDA was equally given an opportunity to respond to issues raised by the affected people. TRC because of its role on LHWP activities was also asked to give its evidence before the Ombudsman.

Upon all these submissions, the Ombudsmsn toured the affected communities in order to take an ocular proof of the issues presented before him and finally then  made a comprehensive report with clearly defined recommendations which in most cases, if not all, favoured the affected people. After this big success, what is remaining for TRC is to follow up implementation of the Ombudsman's recommendations.
