TRC donates books to schools

The Transformation Resource Centre (TRC) has donated 8, 344 books to 10 primary and 10 high schools in and outside Maseru on Friday , in February, 2010 . The books are a donation to TRC's library by an Australian couple, Mr. and Mrs. Linn. Schools that benefited from this windfall are those that are disadvantaged as a result of their location in remote areas, distance from the city centre Maseru where there no are libraries.

The purpose for donation of books was to inject a culture of reading to young brains still at their elementary schooling age so that they grow with this culture. Lesotho is said to be one nation with a low reading culture. This affects knowledgeability and expected competence of Basotho in their spheres of work and life. It also creates a nation that is ignorant of current affairs and other information necessary to sharpen once educational horizons.

The books that are donated are dictionaries, encyclopedia, atlases, and other readership such fiction.
