The schools were from three districts namely Maseru , Teyateyaneng and Leribe and each school was represented by two teachers and two pupils. The aim of this activity is mainly to assist the schools in remote areas and disadvantaged children in establishing libraries in their schools. To build a nation of readers both in general and current issues and at the same time aware of their human rights. The Resource Centre had for a long time been involved in the distribution of old materials to schools in the mountainous areas of the country until such time when funds were not available. This was to enhance reading culture at the very early stage. The request for additional funds in relation to this project was not bought by the current donor or others that were approached. This idea was still not lost by the Resource Centre staff hence why it had come into life. Whilst the road seemed dark along the way a couple from Australia namely Mr. David and Mrs. Liz Linn showed up at TRC and we sold the idea of books that could be donated to the Lesotho school children. Immediately they saw their potential of collecting second hand books when they get to Australia and shoulder all shipment costs. In 2007 the 4,700 books were sent to TRC and distributed to the schools just like this year though the collection is much higher. The same schools had received the books so that the quantity could allow them to start the mini libraries and so that TRC could live out to its dream of instilling the culture and interest of reading especially in English as the second language. The schools that received the books are library members, others showed poor performance in English looking at the results while other schools had visited TRC library and requested donations in order to establish libraries in their respective schools. This gesture showed the commitment of the organization to the growth of the Mosotho child in the improvement of reading culture.
