5th May 2004
(Maseru) Transformation Resource Center (TRC) will hold a national workshop at Molengoane Lodge in Nazareth for the LHWP affected communities from Mohale and Katse areas respectively beginning on the 10th to 14th May 2004. The main objectives of the workshop are:
To identify outstanding resettlement and compensation issues with regard to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP),
To empower the affected communities to demand their rights from the LHDA,
To equip the representatives of the affected communities with lobbying and advocacy skills so that they take up their issues with LHDA and,
To work out plans to establish an umbrella organization, Survivors of Lesotho Dams (SOLD) for the people affected by Dams in Lesotho.
TRC has also extended its invitation to the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) to share information in connection with transformation process taking place within the LHDA and to show how such process can affect the normal services rendered to the affected communities. TRC believes that this will be a positive step in the light of keeping the affected communities on the same wavelength of information with regard to LHWP issues.
TRC is a human rights orientated Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to working for Peace, Justice and Participatory Development. To achieve its goal, TRC has the following four (4) Programmes:
