LESOTHO TO HOST UNESCO CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP

Lesotho will be among eight African countries which will undergo a three day capacity-building workshop by the United Nations Education, Scientifc and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The workshop will be held at Maseru Sun starting on Wednesday this week. The eight participating countries at the workshop are Botswana, Malawi, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, including Lesotho and all of them are English speaking countries.

The Ministry of education and Training Chief Information Officer, Mrs 'Makopano Semakale, said the objective of the workshop is to strengthen national Commissions in Africa.

'It is an initiative of the National Commission of Germany, involving five countries of Africa such as Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Namibia and Rwanda,' she said.

The ministry's informaton officer, said the workshop is a direct result of the trip undertaken by programme coordinators of education and of science in Berlin and Bonn in March-April this year.

'The objective was for national commissions to strengthen one another,' she said. The Minister of Education and Training, Dr 'Maphono Khaketla is expected to open the workshop officially.
