The main event will take place in form of a banquet on 4 December, 2009: The theme for the celebrations is: “ Celebrating the Cause of Social Justice”. TRC will be marking milestones made in the last thirty years. TRC has four main programmes, namely: Democracy and Human Rights, Library, Water for Justice and Environment and Information and Communication. Library The TRC Library serves as a resource centre, preserving TRC's identity as a centre for justice, peace and participatory development in Lesotho. The Library has conducted reading competitions with the aim of injecting a culture of reading among students in high schools. Two students from Bereng High School will present a poem depicting the core values of TRC at a banquet that is going to be held on 4 December, 2009. Democracy & Human rights The Democracy and Human Rights programme focuses on civic education for citizen empowerment. It also enhances public participation in parliamentary processes. As part of celebrations of TRC's 30 th anniversary, the programme will organize a half-day meeting in conjunction with organizations that work with women rights to look at challenges facing domestic workers. Water for Justice and Environment The Water for Justice and Environment Programme advocates for justice on water and environmental issues that affect communities in Lesotho. The programme will participate in the celebrations by organising a tree planting activity that is to be held in the Metolong community. The event is co-organised by TRC with her partner, Metolong Authority. Information & Communication The last programme, Information and Communication, will host a seminar on "The Challenges Facing Non-state Organs in the Fast Changing World”. The programme communicates TRC's activities to the world. It also serves as a hub of information exchange between TRC and the world. Part of the celebrations will take the form of sports, featuring a fun walk and various sport games that will be played on the 29 th November at Maseru Club. This day has been set out as a Sports Day/Fun Day in preparation for the main event on 4th December, 2009.
