PM ELECTED VICE CHAIR OF AU
The Prime Minister, Mr Pakalitha Mosisili has been elected this year's first Vice Chairperson of the African Union, in elections of the AU chairmanship, during the official opening of the 12th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
Lesotho stands a better chance of being elected the chairma of the AU in next year's election following the election of the President of Lybia, President Moammar Gadhaffi of Libya this year. The Lybian President succeeds the Tanzanian leader, President Jakaya Kikwete.
Furthermore, regarding the theme of the summit which reads 'Infrastructure Development in Africa',the Mr Mosisili expressed his satisfaction in Lesotho's giant strides towards developing its infrastructure, highlighting the construction of proper roads in Ts'ehlanyane, Thaba-bosiu and Thaba-Tseka and the underway project of upgrading the Main South 1 road as proofs in this instance.
He further to said in realizing this theme, the Department of Roads is even constructing bridges in places such as Senqu and Senqunyane.
Meanwhile the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Mohlabi Tsekoa also convened with other foreign affairs ministers to deliberate on the how African Union Authority will operate, more importantly to unite Africa further and possibly veer it towards achieving the United States of Africa
The ordinary session of the assembly of heads of state and government of the african union, ended on Tuesday.
Lesotho's delegation was headed by the Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. 'Mathato Mosisili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa.
