High school students receive awards

 

The Transformation Resource Centre, The United Nations Information Center, the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Correctional Service and Baha'i Community of Lesotho sponsored an annual essay writing competition for form D students.

Six students managed to win the competition defeating twenty six others from different schools around the country.

Rabele Biteko of Qholaqhoe High School took the first prize, followed by Fusi Perkisi from Likuena High School and Tsietsi Matjele from Qholaqhoe on second place, Moholo Tsiame from Motsekuoa High School and Teboho Leholi from Dahon High School came third while Lefulesile Kholoane from Holy Family High School took the last place.

The Transformation Resource Centre Director Mr. Hoolo Nyane showed his gratitude and amazement at the level of writing and skills used by the students. He emphasized that building and encouraging the love or reading amongst students is one of TRC's goals. He showed that TRC has for three years now donated books to different High Schools and Primary Schools around the country.

The essay topic this year was “Equality of Men and Women a Prerequisite for Peace, Progress and Prosperity”

Present at the occasion were the Minister of Human Rights and Correctional Service Hon. Mpeo Mahase, the acting Principle Secretary of the same Ministry Mr. Retselisitsoe Masenyetsa, the United Nation Resident Coordinator Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa-Onochi Baha'I Community representatives the winning students and their teachers.
