TRC Donates Books to Schools

Transformation Resource Centre handed over about 6,076 books to 10 high schools and 10 primary schools on Friday, 22 nd May 2009 at its premises. The schools were from three districts namely Maseru , Teyateyaneng and Leribe and each school was represented by two teachers and two pupils.

The aim of this activity is mainly to assist the schools in remote areas and disadvantaged children in establishing libraries in their schools. To build a nation of readers both in general and current issues and at the same time aware of their human rights.

The Resource Centre had for a long time been involved in the distribution of old materials to schools in the mountainous areas of the country until such time when funds were not available. This was to enhance reading culture at the very early stage. The request for additional funds in relation to this project was not bought by the current donor or others that were approached. This idea was still not lost by the Resource Centre staff hence why it had come into life. Whilst the road seemed dark along the way a couple from Australia namely Mr. David and Mrs. Liz Linn showed up at TRC and we sold the idea of books that could be donated to the Lesotho school children.
