  Important Information

In July 2004, a longtime dream of TRC came true: We moved to our own building. This was possible with a special grant by the organisations main donor, the development organisation of the protestant churches in Germany, EED.

The idea to buy its own site was not new for TRC. But the realization of this idea always failed due to the lack of funding. Then, in  January 2003 EED offered a specific one year project fund to buy a site for TRC.

In June negotiations with Joe Forrest, who wanted to sell his estate on Oaktree Gardens began. An agreement was reached soon and on 15th August 2003, Ms Senyane signed the contract on behalf of TRC.

The following months were filled with administrative work: find a contractor, handle the transmission of money, discuss the planning with the architect, James McCloy. The latter proved to be a major support to the organisation, motivating and carrying through times of worry.

In February 2004, work on the new site began. The first building was finished in June. Beginning of July TRC moved from Carlton Centre to 1 Oaktree Gardens.

The former main house and the servants house will be rented out after refurbishing. The thatched-roof guest house (picture on the right) will serve as such for TRC‘s visitors.

In October 2004 the library moved from the interim quarters in our new conference centre to their own new building.

On 12 November 2004, His Majesty King Letsie III officially inaugurated TRC's new headquarters, making this event the highlight of our 25th Anniversary year.
