Since its formation in 1979, TRC has enjoyed partnerships and funding relationships with donor agencies from outside Lesotho. Funding has for the most part come from church-based institutions. At its beginnings, funding came from Misereor, Missio, and EZE (German Aid Organisations), the United Church of Canada, Anglican Church in Canada, Mennonite Central Committee, American Episcopal Church, United Church of Christ, Church of Sweden and the Danish Volunteer Service. Although TRC continues to identify its struggle within the worldwide church of Christ, we have moved to receiving funding not only from church-based organisations, but from all institutions that identify with the cause of justice and peace. Some of TRC's funders in recent times are: EED (development organisation of the protestant churches in Germany), Christian Aid (UK), Open Society Initiatives in Southern Africa, MS-Southern Africa (former Danish Development Service), Mennonite Central Committee, American Friends Service and many other small grants and donations coming from funding institutions and individuals. It should be noted that over the years, TRC has made its own contribution towards the budget from membership subscriptions, sale of TRC's written materials and from funds collected by staff through consultancy work to other institutions. |
